38 weeks

Well, we're getting down to it. Pat and I went to the doctor today. I am still softening and am now, what the doctor called a "fingertip dilated". She said it is about 1/2 cm. I am just happy that I am progressing.

I finished school Saturday which is a great thing, but I now find myself constantly thinking about when Jack might get here. I know I shouldn't be doing this or else it's going to be a long next two weeks!

Update

Well this week was a little interesting. The doctor's office called and let me know that I was Group B Strep positive, which means that I have to have antibiotics when I am in labor. The Group B Strep can infect the baby during birth, but it is harmless on me because of my immune system.

I also learned that I am O- blood type, which is funny because when I donated blood last year they told me I was O+. Supposedly South Bend Medical Foundation has a new way of testing Rh factor and I am negative now. What this means is that if I am carrying a Rh+ baby and our blood crosses at some point, my body will produce antibodies to the Rh+ factor. It would not harm this child, but if I were to get pregnant again with an Rh+ baby my body would fight the pregnancy. Therefore, I had to get a shot at the doctor yesterday that prevents my body from building up anti Rh+ antibodies. Weird huh?

On a final note, I am not dilated at all, but I am 50% effaced (my cervix is softening!).

36 weeks...4 weeks to go!

I am 36 weeks pregnant today and boy do I feel it. I am having the darndest time getting around, but I'm trying to hang in there. I went to the doctor last Thursday and my cervix is still closed. No progression yet! I am happy about that because I still have 2 weeks of school with 5 tests to boot. We will go to the doctor every week now and find out if anything is happening. We are getting really excited for him to arrive:)

This week Jack is (according to my week by week book) about 6lbs and 20.75 inches long. His feet have been up in my lungs for a couple weeks now:) I've attached a picture of myself. If I look really tired it is because I am!!
